Finding Utopia – Utopian Consciousness in Women’s Strike and Climate Movement
Anyone who wants to change the world needs to be aware of which possible other society has already found its prerequisite in the state of technological development. This consciousness is utopian. It is therefore up to us to locate and sharpen this consciousness – to translate it into political action at the right time.
Following Ernst Bloch (Das Prinzip Hoffnung) and Alexander Neupert-Doppler, the lecture will explain why a utopian consciousness is the condition for a successful political upheaval from the left and provide evidence that such a consciousness exists both in the women’s strike movement and in the climate movement. Finally, he will make a proposal for supporting these movements.
